Although I'm not feeling angry or experiencing a headache at this time, I'm practicing this mudra, because it's the one that presented itself today when I looked to see if holding a mudra would be favorable.
"This mudra works by creating an emotional equilibrium. The pressure points stimulated with your thumbs release anger and have an immediate calming effect," writes Sabrina Mesko in her book Healing Mudras: Yoga for Your Hands.
"Lift your hands to the level of your forehead. Make fists with the palms facing outward and keep the thumbs stretched pointing toward each other. Press the spot on your brow between your eyes and nose and focus your eyes at the tip of your nose."
"It's immediate and powerful effect will help you channel your anger inao a positive outcome or decision."
I have been experiencing a sense of frustration as I've sought clarity on my next phase of my work. Frustration's a second cousin of anger, so i'm going to practice this mudra with an intention to release the frustration energies and invite clarity and focus.
OK. Lots of yawning. Lots of energies moving out. I held the mudra for about 3 minutes. Find my arm muscles fatigue easily when I hold them in static postures up high like that. So I am getting the added bonus of reminding myself to build my muscle stamina.
I definitely feel a sense of tensions easing. Might practice this one again in a while. I don't remember ever having done this mudra before. Cool. Another gesture/practice to add to my energy work possibilities.
I have 3 mudra books. One by Gertrud Hirschi and two by Sabrina Mesko. I recommend all three highly. I get so much out of working with them.
